Brown Henderson Melbye is a law firm in Victoria, B.C. that restricts its practice
to Family Law.
We believe this area of practice is extremely important and we
strive to stay ahead of new trends, and to provide the most professional service
to our clients.
Brown Henderson Melbye has been at its current location of 1842 Oak Bay Avenue since 2001 and consists of four lawyers, Trudi Brown Q.C., Jane Henderson Q. C.,
Kay Melbye, and Aesha Faux. We also regularly have an articled student whom we
mentor and who assists in providing services to clients.
Trudi and Jane have been practising together since 1984, Kay joined the firm
in 2001 and Aesha in April 2009. All four lawyers are qualified and experienced
in mediation, negotiation, and collaborative law and will use these methods to
resolve the issues whenever possible - but they are also experienced litigators and will go to court when necessary.
Trudi Brown and Jane Henderson have lectured extensively in the area of family
law at the National and Provincial levels as well as at the University of
Victoria Law School and both continue to work within their profession for
positive changes to family law.
Kay Melbye’s focus is also on resolving family law disputes without going to court
whenever possible. She is a member of the Collaborative Family Law Group and
practices primarily in the area of family law.
Aesha Faux is currently an executive member of the CBA Woman Rainmakers board
and an active member of the Canadian Bar Association, Trial Lawyers Association
of British Columbia, and the Collaborative Family Law Practice.
